REACH – (EC) 1907/2006

The Regulation on the registration, evaluation, authorisation and restriction of chemicals (REACH) is the main EU law to protect human health and the environment from the risks that can be posed by chemicals.

REACH DECLARATION OF CONFORMITY

QSC, LLC supports the objectives of REACH (Registration, Evaluation, and Authorisation of Chemicals no. 1907/2006), and is aware of the obligations associated to a company to comply with the directive including informing our customers whenever substances from the candidate list is found in our products.

With regard to the requirements of Article 33/candidate list of REACH “Duty to communicate information on substances in articles”, QSC, LLC is constantly monitoring the SVHCs (Candidate List of substances of very high concern for Authorizations currently released by ECHA) in our products, and QSC, LLC has an ongoing process of gathering declarations to ensure that none of the substances are present in our products with a concentration equal to or above 0.1%.

The current ECHA candidate listing can be found on: http://echa.europa.eu/candidate-list-table. All products made by QSC, LLC comply with the Regulations of Substances of Very High Concern (SVHC), (EC) 1907/2006, (SVHC<0,1%), except from lead. Currently, in QSC, LLC products, this substance is to be found in a concentration above 0.1% (w/w) in steel alloys, brass, aluminium, and electronic components. Where reasonably technically possible, QSC, LLC aims to substitute lead in our products.

QSC, LLC will make all reasonable efforts to ensure appropriate and timely handling of updates in the REACH directive and has set up a procedure to handle and ensure REACH compliance. As a part of this procedure, we are using a third-party compliance database to gather information regarding SVHCs.

If you require further information or statements of compliance, please e-mail [email protected].

Statement of CARB Compliance

The CARB rules were phased in during 2011, QSC wants to make you aware of what we have done to meet this Rule. We have accomplished the following:

  1. Confirmed that our partners are aware of the formaldehyde emissions rules; Per the California Air Resources Board’s measure, QSC and QSC’s contract manufacturers are considered “Fabricators”. A company that manufactures domestic or imported finished goods made with regulated composite wood panels. QSC and QSC’s partners have been compliant with the CARB Rule since January 1, 2010 and have been buying compliant material from our suppliers since May 1, 2009.
  2. Determined what steps have already been taken to produce compliant products; What are the Fabricator requirements? What has QSC done to meet these requirements?

    1. Enter into agreements with wood suppliers to supply only CARB compliant material starting May 1, 2009; and receive written certification from the suppliers on all material shipments.
    2. As the compliant material is received, keep the records of purchases for two years (the bill of lading or the invoice received from the supplier clearly identifying the supplier and certifying that the panels are CARB compliant with the third party certification agency identified).

      1. Fabricators Name
      2. Date Finished Product was Produced (this is imbedded in the Product Serial Number)
      3. Language that clearly indicates that the product complies with the CARB Rule.
      4. The same statement of compliance in c) is also on the invoice and Packing slip that is sent to our customer.

  3. Notify all customers that going forward QSC will provide compliance certification and will only be purchasing compliant materials.

QSC has been supplying fabricated products containing composites that comply with the labeling, emission and certification requirements of the rule since January 1, 2010.

QSC certifies that all QSC products containing MDF or Hardwood Plywood comply with CARB Phase 2 formaldehyde emission standards in CCR 93120.2(a).
