Q-SYS Designer Software:  Support Policy

Q-SYS strives to bring new software solutions and features updates to better service our customers. To maximize business performance, you are encouraged to transition your systems to either the latest Q-SYS Designer Software release or the latest long-term support release.

Q-SYS will provide technical support on the most recent prior release of Q-SYS Designer Software (annotated as “End of Life – Supported”) for a period up to twelve (12) months. During this support period, Q-SYS will deliver a commercially reasonable effort to assist our customers experiencing problems with a system. After the twelve (12) months period, the prior software version will no longer be supported by Q-SYS.

Featured Updates

  • BUG FIX: An issue was fixed where the Device Pairing feature did not work on password-protected Cores.
  • BUG FIX: An issue was fixed where the design, and any UCIs in the design, would display twice in the Windows UCI Viewer list if the design stopped running, and was restarted.
  • BUG FIX: An issue was fixed where an "Error 401" would display when disconnecting Q-SYS Designer from the Core.
  • BUG FIX: An issue was fixed that would cause Q-LAN audio stream dropouts when there was either a WAN transmitter or a WAN receiver in the design. As more transmitters and/or receivers were added to the design, the Q-LAN dropouts would become more frequent.
  • BUG FIX: An issue was fixed where a Core running a design was rebooted or power-cycled, then when the Core restarted, the clocking would occasionally not initialize correctly, causing all the peripherals in the design to be out of sync with the Core's clock.
  • BUG FIX: An issue was fixed that would, in some cases, cause an error stating “hexadecimal value 0x08, is an invalid character", during compiling the design.
  • BUG FIX: An issue was fixed where the gain on a Standard Mic/Line In card, installed in a Core, would have incorrect gain jumps. CAUTION: The gain jumps are such that in certain circumstances, you may get an increase of 40dB into your system.
  • BUG FIX: An issue was fixed where any I/O-22 Line Out component in the design would NOT pass audio if the corresponding I/O-22 Mic/Line In component was NOT in the design, AND a Core Slot "A" I/O card was not in the design.
  • BUG FIX: An issue was fixed where Page Archive FTP password entry was reversing the characters as they were entered.
  • KNOWN ISSUE: The UCI Viewer does not work with emulated designs.
  • CHANGE: Added the D-Link DGS-3120 Series Ethernet switches to the list of Q-SYS qualified switches. Refer to the Help under Networking for details.
  • CHANGE: Added Cisco Small Business SG200 and SG500 Series Ethernet switches to the list of Q-SYS qualified switches. Refer to the Help under Networking for details.

Featured Updates

  • BUG FIX: An issue was fixed where use of the Signal Probe occasionally caused the Core audio processing engine to restart. A message box displays saying that the Core is no longer running a design. The message box automatically closes when the connection with the restarted audio engine is re-established.
  • BUG FIX: An issue was fixed where the Touchscreen Controller/UCI would go offline when redundant Cores were swapped.
  • BUG FIX: An issue was fixed where the TSC-3 Touchscreen Controller may not go into standby/dim.
  • BUG FIX: An issue was fixed where one or more of the motherboard (not the Core card) non-processor, temperature sensors may be faulty. The sensors erroneously report high temperatures in the range of 90C to 110C. These faulty sensors are now ignored. Both motherboard processor temperature sensor and Core card temperature sensor are reliable.
  • BUG FIX: An issue was fixed that causes the Control Script component to occasionally lock when editing a Lua script.
  • BUG FIX: An issue was fixed that caused Page Archive files to consume local memory. The system now starts deleting old files after 31 days or 100 MB. If you need more storage, you can enable Archive Export to copy the files to an FTP server. Previously, Page Archive files were only deleted when this option was enabled, and had a maximum allowable limit of 10MB. Refer to the Paging documentation for information.
  • BUG FIX: An issue was fixed where the Archive files could not be deleted using the Administrator interface.
  • BUG FIX: An issue was fixed that caused system instability when there were errors in a Lua script.
  • BUG FIX: An issue was fixed where the LCD display on an I/O Frame would update very slowly, or there may be a slow recovery from communication errors, and occasionally the I/O Frame would go into an initializing state from which it could not recover. To fix this issue, the rate at which meters in I/O cards, loudspeakers, and amplifiers are updated was slowed. Depending on the type and number of I/O Cards used, the result of the slower update rate may or may not be noticeable.
  • BUG FIX: Fixed an issue where redundant Cores were not synchronizing their Time/Date.
  • BUG FIX: Fixed an issue on the Gain Sharing Auto Mixer that caused the Mix Output level to rise as more inputs are summed.
  • BUG FIX: Fixed an issue on the Gated Automatic Mixer, where the Threshold level does not go up as you start to increase the Background Percentage.
  • BUG FIX: Fixed an issue in the Parametric EQ, where the highest/last band's Bypass control, if engaged, caused the Master Gain to be bypassed. The Master Gain should only be bypassed when the Master Bypass control is engaged.
  • CHANGE:  The UDP ports used by Audio have changed. The new UDP ports are 6516 and 6517. Q-SYS versions prior to 3.0 used UDP ports 6511 through 6766 as needed, depending on the number of active streams in the system. This change improves performance and simplifies configuration for network administrators in many cases.

Featured Updates

  • BUG FIX: Text Display Controls internally rejected strings greater than 1000 characters causing the UCI-Core communication backup. The Text Display Controls now indicates if string is greater than 3120 and discards the string.
  • BUG FIX: The Signal Names Color property did not displayed in the component's Properties. The Color property now displays properly.
  • BUG FIX: DSP cycle prediction issue now means 5% fewer cycles available (large Designs could cause processor overruns).
  • BUG FIX: The Touchscreen Status Page ID button now operates properly.
  • BUG FIX: Control Link Client did not work properly with redundant Cores.
  • BUG FIX: Audio Player file sync between redundant Cores did not work properly in all cases.
  • BUG FIX: UCIs with large images did not work reliably.
  • BUG FIX: Scripts wired to scripts and using Timers now work properly.
  • BUG FIX: In AEC designs with more than one AEC component, if the number of channels on a component was not a multiple of 4, then AEC Bypass, Noise reduction, and Comfort Noise controls were not correctly mapped to each channel of each control.
  • BUG FIX: The AEC performed poorly with low AEC reference levels. The input level can now be -30 dB lower compared to previous optimum levels without affecting AEC behavior.
  • BUG FIX: Fixed an issue that might cause Lua scripts to lock up
  • BUG FIX: An issue with the audio engine, that caused the audio to go bad or silent after 16.5 days of continuous operation, is fixed.
  • BUG FIX: Dynamically un-pairing a physical device would not allow it to be paired again until it was restarted
