Mary McBride Brings Country Culture to Vietnam with QSC

WideLine-8™ & WideLine-10™ Series Line Arrays Power Country Music Showcase

Ho Chih Minh City, Vietnam (April 2012) – QSC WideLine-8™ WideLine-10™ Series line arrays, together with GP218-sw and WL218-sw subwoofers, were featured at a country music showcase performed in Vietnam early this month, powered by QSC's PowerLight™ 3 Series amplifiers. The free concert featured country singer Mary McBride and her five-piece band performing to a 2500 capacity crowd at the open-air auditorium of the Lan Anh club in Ho Chi Minh City (the former Saigon), and took place as part of a cultural programme sponsored by the US Consulate General.

"Mary McBride wanted the sound system to be capable of evenly covering the audience listening area, with a possible maximum SPL of at least 115db at the FOH mixing position, and without distortion," explains Quoc Nguyen of QV Sound, the local distributor for QSC who supplied the equipment. "Based on these requirements, I chose the WideLine Series line arrays; as they give 140 degrees of wide-angle dispersion to cover the entire the seating area at the stadium. I also chose the PowerLight 3 Series amps because of their close integration with the WideLine™ speakers; the combination produced the highest sound quality for the show."

The perfomers were also very pleased with the PA system; following the soundcheck for the 27-song concert, which ranged from traditional country music to blues and rock and roll, Mary McBride said, "Everything has been really well prepared; I feel comfortable and the speakers sound great". And after the performance, McBride's lead guitarist Mark Spencer was heard to comment as he walked off the stage, "The sound system here is excellent!".
