Q-SYS Platform and Visionary Solutions Deliver Integration in AV Paradise

From the waterpark and pool to the tiki bars and restaurants, there’s no shortage of ways to spend an afternoon at “Margaritaville at Lanier Islands”, the Jimmy Buffet-themed entertainment theme park for the whole family.

With construction nearly completed, it was time to implement an AV solution that would serve the entire park, and QSC was prepared for the challenge with the Q-SYS Platform. The network was designed around a Q-SYS Core 110f Unified Processor, which handles audio processing and distribution and third-party control over video routing for the entire park.

System integrator dB Integrations deployed AV encoders and decoders from Visionary Solutions along with Q-SYS Control plugins that enable seamless integration of those devices within Q-SYS. Most notably from a control perspective, Q-SYS controls third-party video distribution devices from Visionary Solutions (VS).

Jason Block, sales consultant at dB Integrations, utilized Q-SYS plugins for VS's Duet Encoder devices that enable seamless integration of their Duet Encoders within the Q-SYS Platform. “Visionary Solutions plugins allow manipulation of their devices within the Q-SYS environment,” explains Block. “That lets me quickly build a user control interface with video routing controls that the end-user can access with a native Q-SYS touch screen controller. It’s a lifesaving plugin.”

To manage the audio streams from the video devices, system designers used Q-SYS to to extract the audio from VS Duet encoder’s HDMI output via AES67 and route it anywhere on Q-SYS network. Block continues, “That allows us to get synchronized audio distribution entry and video distribution entry on one Duet encoder. It’s fantastic integration.”
