Q-SYS Designer Software:  Support Policy

Q-SYS strives to bring new software solutions and features updates to better service our customers. To maximize business performance, you are encouraged to transition your systems to either the latest Q-SYS Designer Software release or the latest long-term support release.

Q-SYS will provide technical support on the most recent prior release of Q-SYS Designer Software (annotated as “End of Life – Supported”) for a period up to twelve (12) months. During this support period, Q-SYS will deliver a commercially reasonable effort to assist our customers experiencing problems with a system. After the twelve (12) months period, the prior software version will no longer be supported by Q-SYS.

Version 9

Support for Q-SYS NV-21-HU Network Video Endpoint

  • Introducing the next evolution for native Q-SYS video distribution, now supported in your Q-SYS designs.

NV-21-HU Temporary Software Limitations

SPA-Q Series Standalone Mode

When the unexpected occurs to your network and the connection to the Q-SYS Core is lost, ensure your SPA-Q Series network amplifier can still pass audio to a loudspeaker from a connected analog input signal.

Peripheral Mode

Deploy the Core 110f, Core 8 Flex and Core Nano as an I/O peripheral and take advantage of all onboard I/O, including AV bridging, external USB audio device hosting and third-party device control ports. In addition, it supports network redundancy in I/O mode to ensure maximum uptime for connected peripherals.

Q-SYS Reflect Enterprise Manager

  • Improved Alerts & Notifications: New filters enable support staff to determine which system notifications they receive, delivering a more customized user experience.
  • Store up to 50 MB of Files and/or Notes (per system): Add files such as system diagrams, room layouts, or images to the Reflect Cloud to provide quick access for on-site technicians or staff that need to troubleshoot or assist users with system operation.
  • Support for Single Sign-On Authentication: Ensure Enterprise Manager can adhere to your organization's password policies.
  • Add User Access Control to your Presets: Apply username and password to all your connected Q-SYS systems instead of one at a time.

Featured Updates

Increased security and integrity for Q-SYS

  • Implements cryptographic QSC digital signatures for all subsequent Q-SYS Core OS Platform updates, which protects your system from the installation of illegitimate or potentially unsafe firmware.

Note: Firmware signing is a requirement for cloud-based firmware updates via Q-SYS Reflect Enterprise Manager. If you plan on future remote updates, your Core processor must first be updated to Q-SYS Designer Software version 9.1.0 or higher.

Control Updates

  • Remap UCI controls (in Beta): Provides a quick and painless way to reassign control IDs for multiple UCI controls from a single dialog box. This tool eliminates the need to remap controls on an individual basis, which is especially useful when duplicating UCIs across an organization.
  • HTML5 UCI Viewer improvements: Including the ability to dynamically change a style via UCI Style Controller.
  • Advanced TSC-G2 touch screen support notice: Q-SYS Designer Software v9.1.2 will be required to support any TSC-G2 touch screen models that ship after August 1, 2021. A notice will be included in the product package for any touch screen that requires this firmware.

Video Updates

  • New AV Stream Router component: Similar to the Q-SYS camera router, this new component simplifies designs with larger quantities of Q-SYS network video endpoints by letting you route multiple AV streams to multiple destinations with a single video matrix.
  • PTZ manual focus for PTZ-IP conference cameras: The Status/Control component for both the Q-SYS PTZ-IP camera and I/O-USB Bridge now accept manual Camera Focus values, which can also be saved in Snapshots or used in conjunction with Control pins.

Audio Updates

Now available for the Q-SYS Core Nano and Core 8 Flex:

  • Multi-track playback feature licenses for simultaneous playback of 32 tracks
  • Media drive upgrade options (128 GB, 256 GB or 512 GB)

New Cinema inventory items

  • QSC is eliminating the need for its Cinema-specific instance of QDS by including all cinema-related inventory items and components in the standard installation. This includes QSC cinema loudspeakers, amplifiers, and streaming I/O devices.

  • Starting in the upcoming Q-SYS Designer Software v9.2.0, QSC will introduce new features that improve camera imaging and USB Video Bridging performance and capabilities. In order to take full advantage of these new software features using the Core 110f's onboard AV USB bridge, the cable infrastructure between the Core 110f's USB Device Port (Type B) and the PC's USB Host Port (type A) must be USB 3.0 compatible, including the cable, port, and anything in between. If you choose to use USB 2.0 infrastructure after updating to v9.2.0, AV bridging performance will be limited to 540p. Note that this does not affect other Q-SYS bridging devices.

  • [NEW] – Added the Value Stepper control component, allowing you to easily increase or decrease values of a downstream component in either gain or percentage terms.
  • [NEW] – Added the UCI Layer Controller control component, allowing you to show or hide individual layers in a specified UCI and page.
  • [CORE] – To make Q-SYS Cores less vulnerable to network attacks, the FTP Server on the Core has been removed. If you use FTP (implemented in custom software or a standard FTP program, such as FileZilla) to upload or download media files to or from a Q-SYS Core, QSC recommends that you wait to upgrade to version 7.1 until you can update your client software to use either HTTP or HTTPS. As a more secure alternative to FTP, use HTTPS.

  • [LUA] – Added Notifications functions, allowing you to subscribe to a notification, publish a notification with specified data, and unsubscribe from a notification. (This allows scripts running within the same Core to communicate with each other.)
  • [LUA] – The former Qlib functions have moved to new Crypto and Network categories. (See the Release Notes for details.)
  • [LUA] – Added System functions, which can be used to return the Q-SYS environment version, including the complete Q-SYS Designer version string or individual components of the version.
