Architect and Engineer’s Specifications: AD-C.SAT Small Format Ceiling Satellite Loudspeaker The small-format ceiling-mount satellite loudspeaker shall contain a 2.75-inch driver with a weather-treated paper cone, a rubber surround, and an inverted aluminum dust cap. The driver shall have a nominal impedance of 16 ohms. The loudspeaker shall be designed to operate in a system that comprises either two or four identical ceiling-mount satellites with a ceiling-mounted companion subwoofer. The satellite shall have an effective frequency range of 150 Hz to 20 kHz and an on-axis free-air sensitivity of 82 dB SPL, measured at 1 m with an input signal of 4 V rms. It shall be capable of producing a peak maximum output of 96 dB SPL, measured at 1 m. The satellite’s continuous power rating, measured with an IEC60268-1 noise signal for two hours, shall be 25 watts (20 volts rms). The satellite shall utilize the 200 Hz high-pass output of the passive crossover network in the companion subwoofer. The satellite enclosure shall be a powder-coated steel can with a round baffle made of ABS plastic and shall carry UL1480 and UL2043 certification. The only parts of the enclosure that shall be visible below the ceiling are a plastic trim ring and a snap-fit powder-coated perforated steel magnetic grille. The subwoofer shall be available with the trim ring and grille in either RAL 9010 white or RAL 9011 black. The connectors on the satellite loudspeaker enclosure shall be a locking two-pole “Eurostyle” pluggable terminal block, with + and – terminals, located in a recess on the top side of the can. The recess shall be protected by a removable cover. A clamp mechanism in the cover shall provide strain relief for the loudspeaker cabling. The satellite enclosure shall have a blind mounting system comprising two stepped, long-travel dog ears. Mounting hardware included with each pair of satellite loudspeakers shall be C-rings and a cut-out template. The enclosure shall be sized to fit a circular cutout with a diameter of 115 mm (4.5 inches). The outside diameter of the trim ring shall be 150 mm (5.9 inches), and the overall height of the satellite shall be 86 mm (3.4 inches). There shall be an attachment ring on the can for a seismic safety tether. The satellite shall weigh 630 g (1.4 lb) net. The satellite loudspeaker shall be the QSC AD-C.SAT.
