Architect and Engineer’s Specifications: MP-M80 Music and Paging Mixer The music and paging mixer shall be a device suitable for digitally selecting, combining (mixing), routing, and processing audio signals from up to 16 analog sources. It shall send these mixed, routed, and processed signals to as many as eight monaural line-level outputs, from which the signals would typically be amplified and played over loudspeakers in respective zones of a business or other venue. The mixer shall be enclosed in a black anodized and painted aluminum chassis 1 rack space (1.75 inch) high and 19 inches wide, with ears on the front for mounting in a standard equipment rack. The chassis shall be 37.7 cm (14.8 inches) in depth. The rear corners of the chassis shall have mounting tabs for support in racks that have rear rails. The mixer shall have eight balanced inputs that can be used with microphone or line-level audio sources. These inputs shall be located on four six-pin “Euroblock” connectors on the rear panel. Each mic/line input shall have selectable +12-volt phantom power available. The mixer shall also have eight pairs of unbalanced inputs on “RCA” phono-type jacks on the rear panel. Each pair shall be summed to mono. The balanced mic/line inputs shall allow a maximum RMS signal level of +24 dBu, and the unbalanced inputs shall allow a maximum RMS level of +21 dBu. The balanced mic/line inputs shall offer adjustable gain of up to 51 dB for microphones. The mixer shall have eight balanced line-level zone outputs located on four six-pin “Euroblock” connectors on the rear panel. It shall have a balanced line-level output for music on hold on a three-pin “Euroblock” connector. The line-level zone outputs shall be able to produce a maximum RMS level of +21 dBu. The music-on-hold output’s maximum RMS level shall be +10 dBV. The rear panel of the mixer shall have an RJ45 jack for connecting to an external Wi-Fi router of the user’s choosing. This is to permit wireless control of the mixer using a secured connection, through an app, with Android or Apple iOS tablets and smartphones. The rear panel shall have two additional RJ45 jacks, for connecting to as many as eight optional wall-mount control accessories, and a four-pin “Euroblock” connector containing two general-purpose inputs (GPI). A USB-A port on the rear panel shall allow for firmware and configuration uploads or for an alternate wireless network connection through a Wi-Fi dongle. The front panel of the mixer shall have a 3.5 mm headphone jack for cueing and monitoring input and output audio signals, a USB-A port, a green status indicator LED, and a blue power indicator LED. The signal mixing, routing, and processing shall be done internally using state-of-the-art 32-bit floating point digital signal processing operating at a 48 kHz sample rate and with a 2.3 ms latency. The processing available on each input shall be equalization (EQ) and dynamics. The EQ shall be four-band parametric with optional high and/or low shelving, as well as variable high-pass and low-pass filtering with 24 dB/octave slopes. The dynamics processing shall offer gating and a choice of automatic gain control (AGC) or compression. The processing available on the outputs shall be a 1/3-octave graphic EQ and a 12-band variable notch filter for suppressing feedback. Also offered shall be a compressor/limiter, a ducker, a loudness processor, and up to 100 ms of delay. The outputs shall also offer built-in voicing for QSC loudspeakers, as well as processing resources for user-created custom loudspeaker voicings. These resources shall include a six-band parametric EQ and high-pass or low-pass filtering with choices of Linkwitz-Riley or Butterworth alignment and 12, 18, or 24 dB/octave slopes. The mixer shall also have a digital multi-effects processor and a 1/3-octave real-time analyzer (RTA). The mixer’s gain, routing, and processing configurations shall be programmable on a graphical user interface (GUI) using a Windows or Mac OS PC or an Android or iOS tablet. Wired wall accessories and/or a wireless smartphone app shall allow real-time control. The mixer shall have an IEC chassis connector on its rear panel for its internal power supply. The power supply shall be a universal-voltage switching type that can operate on any AC voltage from 100 V to 240 V. It shall typically draw no more than approximately 1.2 A while operating. The mixer shall have a net weight of approximately 3.2 kg (7 lb). The mixer shall be the QSC MP-M80.
